| Myself & my Daughter, Laura on her College Graduation evening 4-29-08 | Views: 222 |
What a Dream come true that evening was for me. To think my Little Girl was only 8 years old when I was diagnosed. I was so scared for to me there was no one that could raise my children beside their MOM. But, the Doctors Never thought that I would live that long. I NEVER gave up. It was very emotional to see her graduate from High School just 4 short years ago. It seemed just like yesterday now. When the Pastor of Missouri Baptist University asked for the parents of the students to please stand so we can applaud you and the support you gave your student. It was almost more than I could take. I was trying to hide back my emotions. To think that little Girl of mine grauated with honors. What a wonderful young lady she has become. She has just shared with me that she will be going to graduate school for she has decided that she wants her PhD. i’m not surpised her at all. I bought her the book,” THE LAST LECTURE”. This College Professor is dying and he is the Father of 3 small children. I saw a news program about him and his family. When he said that he had his life all mapped out by the age of 8, it gave me chills, for Laura had also. So, when she told me that she would not be content teaching High School that she did wish to get her PhD, somehow I already knew that. She finished the book in one night and said that it was one of the best and most inspiriational books she had ever read. I also got her a HOT AIR BALLOON RIDE AT SUNRISE. She loves to take pictures, she will really be able to take some good ones at sunrise. I am so very Blessed. The Leukemia is only a minor inconveniennce, When I was so gravely ill and Dr. Weiss came is and told me that he thought I needed to get my affairs in order that he didn’t know if he could get my counts up. At that time my platlets were Zero. I only recently read the Newspaper article that my town ran with a picture of myself with my 3 children on the front page. Of course, I could never have given an interview without my voice cracking. Fortunately, my good friend, Connie Smith an RN was in the room and she talked to the newspaper. I had forgotten that the regimen that they used, was so experimental that I was only the 2nd person in the U.S. to receive it. Well, God was sure watching over me.

I couldn’t look at this pic without crying…for joy…because I know the feeling. We both have so much to be thankful for, don’t we?
